Rumors have been circulating for quite some time hinting at an affordable and long-range electric car coming from Chevrolet. Now, many companies have made bold claims about what their coming hybrids or electrics would offer in terms of range and power, so the rule most follow is that nothing is set in stone until the car is on a dealer’s lot.
Well, the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show is no dealer lot and this production-ready model is not set to be manufactured until late 2016.
Still, this is a huge step forward. The Bolt represents something very big: the realization that, after decades of talk and prototyping, major auto manufacturers will begin to make inexpensive electric cars with a long range that can be practical enough for normal people to buy.
